Resumo

There is a growing demand for new enzymes that enable cost reduction and effi ciency improvement in industrial processes without harming the environment. Using classical methods of microbiology and biochemistry we can obtain less than 1% of the information contained in an environment. This is because the vast majority of microorganisms are not cultivable. Thanks to the advancement of metagenome and bioinformatics techniques, new possibilities for the industry are revealed. Here, the bioprospecting of the invasive snail microbiota for use in the biofuel industry is discussed.
